Non-Commute Day Today

I commute often into work and for nearly six years have commuted every weekday into Seattle from Poulsbo. A twelve hour day isn't out of the question most days...This includes about 2.5 to 3 hours a day of commuting in my POV, the bus, a ferry ride, and a walk into the work.

It's about 8 miles from the Bainbridge Island Terminal to Colman Dock in Seattle. If you do this a couple of hundred days a year, twice a day, you end up with a lot of miles sailed. I am estimating about 24,000 over my commuting time to date. There are people that have been commuting on the ferry systems for 20 or more years. And there are people commuting on ferry runs that are longer or because of home locations have greater distances to travel and thus more time commuting.

So...to help break that up...I have tried to start working remotely one day a week, typically on Wednesdays. It definitely helps with the psyche and let's me see my family sooner and longer than I typically get to do.
